Emails are usually shorter and more informal than letters and people sometimes use abbreviations and 'smileys' in them. 'Smileys' (also called 'emoticons') are images which look like faces when you see them from the side. They are made using keyboard symbols and are used to express emotions.

Look! Nex month is my b'day on the 4th Dec,2010 on the ferry and we all be gathered at Eagle St Pier on Riverside at 7pm Sat night. I also invited some of my level 2's classmates. I hope u could make it 'cuz it'd be fun to have u there.
if you like to join my party u must B on time 'cuz we get on to the ferry at 7pm sharp.
BTW the ferry leaves the pier at 7:30pm and navigates on BNE riva. How cool is that :)
